I, a Linux-on-the-desktop user, cringe when I see people using IE as well. Mind you, I cringe when I see people using OSX and liking it. It's actually fascinating to see what people grow up with, and how that does affect their choices and values and opinions. And by the way, they can learn otherwise. I did, with Linux.

Now, I do have to say, when it comes to graphical work, OSX is probably the answer. When it comes to gaming, Windows is the answer. When it comes to sheer "I need a hobby", or "Damn I'm broke again", or "I need to get this old system up and running properly again", or "I need some extra security", or "I need more stability", or, "I want to choose how my operating system looks and feels", or "I want to hack and modify something till it's unrecognisable", or "I want something that is optomised for my hardware", or "I want the ultimate in compatibity, or "enter whatever you feel like here", Linux is the answer. But when I see a year 7 telling me how good the "Mighty Mouse" is (yes, the POS mice we have on the mac's at Calvin), and how they're better than any other mouse ever built, and even going so far as to tell me that I actually enjoy using them over my ancient Logitech (he is very, very wrong), it worries me how much people are influenced. And I'm taking a guess that he's never ever touched a G5, or similar high quality mouse. I don't need a mouse that moves the scroll wheel every time I click. Either that or he's never met an FPS... Quite a possibility seeing he's using a notoriously (and admittedly not their fault) shocking gaming system. But seriously, people should really try getting out of the rut sometimes, and trying out different things, and finding out what else is out there. You never know, you may still be happy with whatever operating system you choose, or you may be bamboozled by what else is available. But one thing is for sure, never ever tell me how good OSX and Apple are until you've used Linux.

And I have that bad feeling I'm the only one who ever reads this website, other than you, Benny...

^ Wow, obviously.

Lay off the coffee next time, or whatever you're drinking.

Now, what happens if you pack your lunch for your whole life? Think of all the Apple products you could afford... :P

Assuming he got that 40D for a reasonable price (say $2400 new, with a 17-85 f/4-5.6 IS USM (sorry, technobabble), that would mean he's packed his lunch 240 times (assuming $10 is indeed the average amount spent on lunch). Interestingly enough, if you work 5 days a week, this will be take 48 weeks to acomplish. More interesting, if you averaged 2 days a week, you're $800 (rough figures) iPhoney would have taken 80 days, or 40 weeks.

Also interesting, that if we have 30 weeks of school each year (it's something like that), and we were to pack our lunch every day (5 days a week), and save $5.50 (the true amount saved!) that we would, over our whole school life (kinder to 12, and yes, I know we wouldn't have been buying lunch in kinder, but work with me here) save $11 550. Impessive. Actually, that's 14 years worth of lunches. That's not too bad, really. and if it was the expensive $10 lunches, (cos admit it, those pounder meals really cost that much) we would save $21 000. Even more impressive. Not to mention the amount saved on gym membership!
